Apps are huge and everyone knows it — Apple alone is about to pass 50 billion app downloads. Unfortunately, there’s a flaw in the “app for everything” ideology: now every …

Before you suggest a client develop a mobile app, become the consumer and ask yourself:

  1. Would I download this app?
  2. How frequently would I use this app?
  3. How would this app impact my impression of or relationship with the brand?
  4. How long before I delete this app to free up memory on my smartphone?

If marketers asked themselves these questions — and truthfully answered them regardless of the potential of revenue — there would be far fewer one-time use apps from brands in low-involvement categories.

“Be easy on yourself. Have fun. Only hang around people that are positive and make you feel good. Anybody who doesn’t make you feel good, kick them to the curb. And the earlier you start in your life the better. The minute anybody makes you feel weird and non-included or not supported, you know, either beat it or tell them to beat it.”
